Here’s some press pass notes for the Giants.

TODAY’S GAME…San Francisco Giants visit Milwaukee Brewers in opener of this 3-game series…Giants’ left-hander Jonathan Sanchez (1-5, 5.88 in 2007) squares off against Brewers’ right-hander Carlos Villanueva (8-5, 3.94 in 2007).

SERIES NOTES…Giants are 45-34 (.570) vs. Brewers since Milwaukee joined National League in 1998…
• SF captured 2007 season series 5-4, snapping 2-campaign losing streak (combined 6-10 deficit over previous 2 years).
• Giants have struggled to 3-9 mark over last 2 years here at Miller Park, after going 12-4 in Wisconsin from 2001-05.
• SF owns 5-game winning streak over Brew Crew at AT&T Park, including 3-game sweep Aug. 4-26, 2007…brooming was 1st by Giants at China Basin since 2000.

THE GIANTS…opened season with 3-game series in Los Angeles this past Monday-Wednesday (1-2), winning finale 2-1 after dropping 1st 2 contests, 5-0 and 3-2, respectively.

ON THE HILL…Giants pitchers yielded just 9 runs in season-opening series in LA, including just 4 tallies in final 2 contests.

WITH THE BAT…SF hitters were held to .232 batting mark (22-for-95) with only 4 runs scored in opening set in LA, including just 4-for-23 (.174) showing with runners in scoring position.

WITH THE LEATHER…Giants fielders committed only 1 error in series at LA, while recording 4 double plays in 3 contests.
