Big 12 comments

What a great paragraph here…FOX Sports on MSN - Five thoughts: Cotton Bowl.

One thing that’s becoming obvious is that the conference as a whole has been soft this year. Yeah, the offenses are dynamite, which has been a factor, but when the league’s best defense ranks No. 50 nationally, you’re a rich man’s WAC.

During the Oregon-Oklahoma State game I got blasted by family and friends for stating that an Oklahoma State win would mean more to their program than it would to the Oregon program with a win. But it was pointed out to me that the only losses by the Cowboys were to Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech, so they must be good if they’re 9-3. Sorry didn’t buy it considering only 3 of those wins came against clubs that finished the season with winning records.

As an Oregon fan it was a game that I expected them to win. Oregon just has a better football program and team. The Big 12 was pumped up this year because of great offenses and little to no defenses.

Matt Bowen and his All-Pro Team

By Frank on December 30th, 2008 at 12:26 pm

Matt Bowen has his first annual The Player’s All-Pro Team up. Very solid all the way around. Of course with Nnamdi Asomugha, Shane Lechler and Johnnie Lee Higgens all on his first team, how could it not be.

2009 Oakland Raiders Home and Away opponents

By Frank on December 30th, 2008 at 9:41 am

Looking over the Oakland Raiders 2009 home and away opponents it’s not going to be an easy road for the Raiders. Just having to play the NFC East is going to be challenge, but if Al Davis gets busy and names a HC without a bunch of drama I think they could be in a position to win at least 8 games next season, if not more. Okay so I’ve been drinking some of that Miami Kool-Aid, but isn’t that what the holiday season is all about? Wishful thinking of better days ahead.

Home: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Baltimore, Cincinnati, N.Y. Jets, Philadelphia, Washington
Away: Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Houston, Dallas, N.Y. Giants
